Burnfoot Hill Community Fund

What is the Burnfoot Hill Community Fund?

The Burnfoot Hill Community Fund is made up of income from the following wind farms:

  • EDF Burnfoot Hill
  • Burnfoot North
  • Rhodders Funds
  • Burnfoot East

Area of Benefit

The fund is governed by an Advisory Panel which is made up of local people from each of the following communities who advise upon and decide grant awards.

  • Alva
  • Menstrie
  • Dollar
  • Tillicoultry and Coalsnaughton & Devonside
  • Muckhart

The Panel meets three times a year

The local people, from each community, comprises of two representatives from each of the local Community Councils and one representative from the wider community

Aims of the Fund

  • Enhance quality of life for local residents
  • Contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities
  • Promote community spirit and encourage community activity

Grant Levels

  • The minimum level of award you can apply for is £500 and the maximum is £5,000. Grants requests may be multi-year but usually for no more than three years
  • If a group has a viable project and good reason to apply for more than £5,000, they should contact Foundation Scotland in the first instance

Exclusions

  • Projects benefiting primarily residents out with the Area of Benefit
  • Statutory costs
  • Costs already incurred or activities which will take place before the Panel considers the application
  • The advancement of religion or party politics
  • Activities contrary to the interests of EDF or any companies in its group. Activities likely to bring Foundation Scotland, EDF or any companies in its group into disrepute
  • Anti-renewable energy or anti-wind farm activities including promoting or sponsoring any objection or representation to the operation of the wind farm, national or local policy in connection with renewable energy or any other renewable energy proposal

Other Fund Activity

  • If the grant request is for less than £500, the applicant can apply for a Micro-Grant which is administered by Muckhart Community Council – see contact details below
  • The Panel has agreed to award regular annual grants towards Events and Winter Festive activities which are administered by Muckhart Community Council
  • Occasionally the Panel may commission an activity where informed by consultation with other stakeholders and they consider there is a particular gap, need or opportunity
