SABLE

"Holly was recommended to us by a friend to help us with our anxious and reactive dog Sable. Holly’s knowledge of dog behaviour is incredible, and she has helped us to understand the reasons behind Sable’s behaviours, as well as how to train her calmly and effectively. Holly is very patient, she explains things very clearly and answers any questions that we have. Most importantly, Sable is enjoying her training and we can see that she is a much happier dog. We are so grateful to Holly and cannot recommend her enough."

CHANCE

"We contacted Holly when we were at the end of our tether. We had input from two other behaviourists prior to contacting Holly. The first behaviourist didn't appreciate the issues that come with rescuing a foreign street dog, and the second just didn't communicate enough.

Luckily Holly understands the different issues that you're faced with when rescuing a dog from abroad, and is always happy to be involved, even in-between sessions. We knew from the first session that we had made the right decision, as Holly was so accommodating and met us at home with Chance. She ensured that Chance was comfortable and maintained everyone's safety throughout the first meeting.

Chance is a confused boy, so loving in the family home, but a nervous wreck outdoors and with anything that doesn't live in our home. Initially, Chance's issues were just with four-legged creatures. However, due to a negative experience with a previous trainer, Chance now has issues with people too. Holly is so patient in working with Chance as well as with us.

We have a way to go still, and have accepted that Chance will likely never be comfortable off lead with lots of other dogs, and that he will not enjoy going to the beach on a busy bank holiday, but he is able to relax and enjoy walks now, which is all we want for him, so thank you Holly."

JACK

"Our 7 year old dog Jack is a Lab Collie cross. We have always known that he is a nervous boy, barking at new people and other dogs, and not being comfortable going to new places. We sadly lost our other dog, Bob, in October. Jack fiercely loved Bob, and it became apparent that Jack was quite sad.

I desperately wanted to help him and I was recommended Holly by a dear friend. I was so nervous about being judged and possibly being told that I was not a good dog guardian, as Jack is so important to us. I needn’t have worried though. Holly is polite and listened during our initial consultation. At her recommendation, I took Jack to the vet for a check-up prior to starting his training, and I was told that he had muscle wastage in his back legs. I couldn’t have felt any worse and blamed myself, but Holly reassured me that we could work on things alongside his new medication regime.

Holly asked us to think about what goals we wanted to achieve from working with her, and we initially wanted to be able to take Jack to the beach at any time of the day, even busy weekends, and for him to be happy with it. But what I now realise is that this is not necessarily what Jack wants. He would prefer to go when it is quieter, and that is when he would have the most fun and be able to relax more. The most valuable lesson that I have learnt is that often what we want from our dogs as humans isn't necessarily what your dog wants or needs!

Within six weeks, I have learnt so much about Jack and we have learnt to trust each other. I now understand what Jack needs from me, and I can now read his body language and improve experiences for him. Jack and I now go on loads of lovely walks. He engages positively with his environment, he sniffs, and he is genuinely really happy. He now doesn't escalate to extreme barking and lunging at dogs, as we are both able to read situations better and react accordingly. We have a way to go still, but we are getting there, and most importantly Jack is happier.

I would never have been able to get to this point without Holly. She is honest, observant, realistic and positive about what we can achieve. Jack initially barked at Holly out and about, but after 2 sessions he started to look forward to seeing her. He even looks to her for praise and checks in with her during our sessions. We are so grateful to you Holly for helping us as a family to find happiness as a trio. To anyone thinking about working with Holly, I would say one thing. Do it!"

BART

"Holly is not only friendly, kind and gentle-natured, but she is also intelligent. We have a rescue Romanian Shepherd (Bart), with rather severe behavioural issues, which are mainly fear-based. Holly has helped us gain a better understanding of why he behaves in certain ways, and she has helped us grasp the concept that he isn't a lost cause. She has reassured us about the things that we are doing correctly for him, alongside teaching us about how we can improve, but this is just a small insight into how Holly works with you. Our work with Holly has only just begun and I highly recommend her to everyone! She is a great behaviourist and has proved to us that she has definitely found her calling in life. Pick up the phone and give her a call, you won't regret it!"

GEORGIE & SCAMP

“I would highly recommend Holly for any dog training needs. She is very calm and caring, and clearly loves what she does. She is also very knowledgeable, and will talk you through anything that you don't understand as many times as you need her to. Thank you Holly for helping me to train my dogs, and for teaching me the techniques that I needed to become a better handler.”

SIMBA

“We began our long-term relationship with Holly in 2018, when our Boxer (Simba) was an anxious and exuberant two year old! Combining her vast knowledge of dog behaviour, with personal skills of patience and perseverance, Holly has educated our family to understand Simba’s behaviour and needs, thus transforming him into a calm, secure and a now pleasure-to-walk best friend. Holly’s holistic approach began with a thorough assessment of Simba at home and on his regular walks. Holly then devised a plan, combining weekly training walks together with homework, which has helped not only Simba’s behaviour, but increased our confidence and knowledge as dog owners. Holly is extremely professional, reliable and passionate about her job, and I have recommended her to several dog owners in need of assistance with their four legged friends.”

SYD

“We reached out to Holly after meeting her when adopting our Staffy Cross, Syd. We wanted Holly to assist us in learning the correct way to walk Syd, as he is such a strong breed and has never had any lead training previously. We had ten sessions in total. After each session, we could see an improvement in Syd in his walking, which also improved his behaviour in the home as well. After the last session, Syd was a different dog when walking, and by keeping up the consistency and training after we had finished our 10 sessions, we can now walk Syd on his lead with no harness, whilst pushing our one year old son in his pram at the same time. This was something we could not even have dreamed about before the sessions started. We could not recommend Holly highly enough! Great value for money with great results! We will be booking again with Holly in the coming months to work further on Syd’s behaviour issues in the home. Thank you Holly. X”

LOKI

“We have a 9 month old Cocker Spaniel called Loki. He has had a number of behavioural issues from an early age. One of Loki’s biggest issues was that he would frequently eat things whilst we were out on walks as well as in the home, such as; chunky socks, thick fabrics, dish clothes and remnants of plastic toys. These would end up getting stuck in his intestines. If we ever tried to take the items off him, he would run away and immediately swallow them forcefully. Holly informed us that this was related to some possessive tendencies that he was displaying, and she worked really effectively with us to nip this in the bud. Holly has also helped us train Loki out of a number of other behavioural issues. She really never fails to amaze me! She is highly knowledgeable in her field and a real animal lover! I couldn’t recommend Holly enough!”

BARNEY

“I heard about Holly through a relative. We have a Cocker Spaniel, Barney, who is 9 months old. He has had moments of aggression, following my daughter having an accident in January. Barney was in the room when it happened. She ended up having to be rushed to hospital, and we were then away from home for 5 days. Barney became ill while we were away. We now know that this was due to him suffering from anxiety and stress. Barney has since displayed what seemed like random moments of aggressive behaviour towards me and my daughter. Holly has taught me so much about why Barney has been behaving the way that he has, and how to avoid triggering this behaviour, as well as how to manage it if he does act out. I now know how to better pick up on his body language, which can indicate how he is feeling and what his following actions might be. Barney has improved so much since we started working with Holly, and I am so much more confident. Beforehand, I honestly had moments when I felt that we may not be able to keep Barney, which made me feel so upset, as I have a strong bond with him. Now, after training with Holly, things are so much better! I have got all of my family on board and listening to how we have to pay attention to what Barney is trying to communicate to us, and they all now know how we need to manage his behaviour in general. I have a very busy house with 5 children, so this was quite the challenge. However, they all love Barney and now, thanks to Holly’s guidance and training, I think we will be fine and can move forward confidently.”

HERO

“A friend recommended Holly Williams Behaviour to us shortly after we adopted our dog, due to his reactivity problems. Before this, our experience of behaviourists had been poor, as they only seemed interested in our pet insurance policy. Holly really invested her time and expertise in us, and helped us to understand things from our dog’s perspective, by reading both his and our body language and letting us know how best to manage different situations. She stays focused throughout the whole session, is honest with us, and is happy to stay in touch between sessions to offer support or to check progress, so we always feel supported. If you’re looking for help with any issue, no matter how small or complex, we can wholeheartedly recommend Holly to get you and your dog through it. You will be left with a much better understanding of how your dog perceives the world, as well as your dog’s individual needs. Thank you for everything Holly.”

DAISY

“My 7 year old cockapoo Daisy had developed a couple of behavioural issues that we were struggling to deal with.  Whenever my daughter got up to go to bed, Daisy would lunge at her and nip her, and it was gradually getting worse. Daisy is a big softie and not at all aggressive, so this behaviour was puzzling and worrying. Holly came to my house to meet Daisy. She asked lots of questions and watched how she behaved. Holly’s knowledge about dog behaviour is phenomenal, and in just 2 sessions she was able decipher why Daisy was behaving that way. She then gave us a 4 step approach to dealing with it, all using positive reinforcement.  It took less than a week to cure Daisy of this behaviour. As I already mentioned, Holly’s knowledge of canine behaviour is amazing and she can really help you understand what your dog is telling you. I highly recommend Holly and will definitely continue to work with her for any other issues that might arise.”

MAX & ASH

“We started working with Holly five weeks before we were due to collect our new Cane Corso puppy, Ash, from the airport. He is an import from Romania. Max, our Staffie Cross, who was already in our home, had become reactive towards a number of other dogs when we were out and about. We were worried about how we were going to integrate Ash into our home. With simple instructions, and actually more training us than Max, and within just 5 weeks, Max was in a much better position to be ready for a puppy companion. We didn’t even think it was going to be possible. We are now continuing to work with Holly to advance both Max and Ash’s general training.”
